| Shut Down-- I am sorry to inform you all of my current situation. In order to protect myself, my wellbeing, and my professional career here in college and in the future, I have removed most of my articles. Here is what I am leaving for all to read. Perhaps at a later time I will post more, but as far as the university and the conspiracy is concerned, I am through bitching. More articles here. Reform-- The rational reasoning and ethical foundations of social structure in the past as well as the present are never perfect, although they should strive in all circumstances to become more so. The responsibility of reform and the indication of the weak and changeable ethical basis from which all things social derive rests in the hands of all who are involved. However, the most prepared and best equipped for doing so is the artist who expresses in a universal language owned by none and understood by all. All artists and scholars should make it our duty to use this language to point out the inconsistencies in the ethical fabric woven into today's complex social existence and what has become the foundation of illicit and dangerous behavior. We as a society must recognize the impact of our actions within this lifetime as well as the reporcutions of our decisions on future generations. Selfish is the society who thinks only of the present and foolish is the man who reaps more than he sows. Change is in the now and starts with little steps which grow to form larger solutions to the complex social problems of the present. The conspiracy of respect-- In our modern professional world authority is freely given to anyone with the intelligence and fortitude to seek it. The social premise of such authority assumes it will not be abused nor used for unethical motives. However, when such authority is abused, society is responsible for the reprimand of the accused. Respect is proportionately equal to authority, however society is and should be more scrupulous in awarding respect. People are taught the opposite when forced to grant respect to individuals based solely on position and authority. Generally such individuals with authority grant respect, civility, and professionalism to persons of lesser rank, position, or experience. The occurrence of authoritative abuse stems from a lack of respect in the corporate ladder downward, creating an abusive and unethical trend. The result is a nemesis to cooperation, progress, and stability in the corporate, political, and social worlds. Perhaps the opposite of the modern trend in the respect/authority paradigm would be more successful. Rather than respect flowing in an upward manner, from lowest rank to highest, the process should reverse. For a successful completion of goals, the weight of the responsibility of respect should fall on that of the leaders. No longer should respect be a burden of workers or students, nor a social requirement for the oppressed individual, which is shown no respect in daily life. No longer should managers be allowed the right to abuse power and disrespect their employees. No longer should teachers be allowed to condescend their students for not showing respect when no respect was earned.
